KPop Demon Hunters - The Lower Target Bracket

For me, an eight-year-old watching KPop Demon Hunters is like an eight-year-old reading Twilight. They like it, but they don’t truly understand it (not that Twilight has that much to understand!). To find that the lower end of KPop Demon Hunters target bracket is that age group seems ludicrous to me.

When I first saw the film I assumed it was aimed at teenagers, and was glad companies were finally doing what I thought they should have been doing all along – and I am no teen, or eight-year-old!

They say films and books ‘find their audience’ and to me, that’s what happened. While objectively there is nothing unsuitable for children this age (assuming you are talking up to them as, say, anime generally does), it does feel too deep and dark to be purposely aimed at them. Everything about the film from the direction, to the dark tones in the art work among the colour etc screams teens or older. Truly, it is verging on Young Adult (general sense, not publishing sense!). In fact, to me it feels like the viewers are meant to be around the same age as the protagonists.

The Breadwinner - Less To Complain About Than Usual!

When I realised this movie was Nora Twomey (simplifying for clarity) my heart sank. Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, My Father’s Dragon, and Wolfwalkers are great films in theory but by goodness are they slow and boring. Miraculous World was a Pain, then I realised I don’t think much of the series either!

The Miraculous Ladybug Movie was brilliant, and corrected many of the issues and questionable things that were in the show. Miraculous World on the other hand . . .  It was boring. It has interesting things in it but somehow they don’t come off as interesting. This show always felt unimaginative and formulaic – as opposed to Phineas and Ferb which is formulaic, but it isn’t a downside and doesn’t feel tired. Miraculous feels tired after three episodes, and feels the same whatever episode in whichever season you watch. World is worse, though, as it feels like one really dragged out episode.  The characters are flat and uninteresting. I mean, you’ve had quite a while to put in some character development. A Moany Introduction

 Like many British people I spend much of my time complaining. It can be anything. Waiting in a queue, the fact of the queue exists, the shower water running out, or burning the toast yet again. Don't worry though, most of the time you won't be hearing about how you always get one tiny stain of tomato sauce on you every time you eat it, or stuff like that.
