The Breadwinner - Less To Complain About Than Usual!
When I realised this movie was Nora Twomey (simplifying for clarity) my heart sank. Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, My Father’s Dragon, and Wolfwalkers are great films in theory but by goodness are they slow and boring. Considering all the factors that should make them brilliant, none of these films seem to come off nearly as well as they should – I supposed I would call it somehow drained of interest, as that is how they make me feel. I prepared myself for another disappointment, however, The Breadwinner actually got it right! It is really good, but I should warn you, brutally real. Some people might be disturbed by some parts. The only thing I have to complain about it is yet another movie that ends without really ending. I could do a whole post on this topic in general. It really feels like there ought to have been another scene or two to finish it off.
